The enigmatic figure of Hacker Hall
Hacker Hall is a character in the Russian Internet world who has reached almost mythical status. Like an invisible computer genius straight out of Hollywood movies, he hacks into the diaries and email accounts of famous internet personalities – and there is hardly any reliable information about him. Almost everything known to the general public about Hacker Hall has been revealed by himself. He is a hacker who currently maintains his own online diary and occasionally gives interviews to various internet publications.
Biography of Hacker Hall
Hacker Hall was born in Moscow, but moved to Germany in 1991, where he still resides today. He was a notorious troublemaker in his childhood, but his parents never gave up and tried their best to raise him as a respectable person. Among other things, they tried to instill a love for reading in him – and they succeeded. The young boy eagerly devoured the works of Jules Verne, Robert Louis Stevenson, H.G. Wells, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Alexandre Dumas.
Hacker Hall first encountered the world of information technology in the late 80s. His first computer was a Russian cassette-based computer called "Moscow-48". At first, computers were just toys for the future threat to the Russian internet, but they eventually became tools for him. His life changed significantly when he discovered the global network in 1996.
Hacker Hall's exploits in the Russian Internet
Gathering information about the elusive hacker is a hopeless task, so let's focus on the facts. What is Hacker Hall known for in the Russian internet? Mostly for hacking into websites and online diaries, specifically LiveJournal accounts, of various notorious users. His victims include Russian State Duma Deputy Viktor Imantovich Alksnis, TV/Radio host Sergey Stilavin, Israeli bodybuilder Alexei "Tangodancer" Sapozhnikov, and journalist Andrey Malgin. He has also targeted well-known LiveJournal users like Bagirov, Probezhiy, Sholademi, and Pribilovskiy.
However, Hacker Hall is not only famous for his hacking activities. He also returned hacked diaries to Russian science fiction writer Oleg Divov, and lesser-known figures like Irina Vorobyeva and Igor Yakovlev. This led to a somewhat one-sided conflict with Andrey Malgin.
Who is Hacker Hall?
For an ordinary internet troublemaker who learned the basics of hacking from one of the many online tutorials, Hacker Hall demonstrates exceptionally high professional skills. His heroic actions, such as returning stolen data, do not align with the stereotypical image of a troublemaker. On the other hand, he does not deny his involvement in the aforementioned hacking incidents.
In an interview, Hacker Hall stated that he never initiates attacks. He claims that all his victims somehow provoked the attacks through their behavior on the internet, whether it was normal online rudeness or outright immoral conduct. The term "sanitizer of the forest" may be somewhat cliché for him, but it captures the essence of his actions. Hacker Hall repeatedly emphasizes that he hacks solely based on his own moral compass and does not earn a living through hacking websites, blogs, or stealing credit card information. In his free time, he might return a stolen mailbox to a friend or hack into an online diary to manipulate search engine rankings (as he did with LiveJournal user Ibighdan).
Every era has its anti-heroes (do not confuse anti-heroes with villains!). During the Middle Ages, legends spread about Robin Hood and his gang operating in Sherwood Forest. Today, stories circulate about Hacker Hall and his mythical "brigade". People love it when evil (even if it is not entirely absolute) is defeated once again, and they do not really care if the hero uses less than legal methods. On the contrary, it makes his character even more interesting and alive.
