Herbert Chavez
Biography of Herbert Chavez
Herbert Chavez is a Filipino Superman fan who has taken his passion for the 'Man of Steel' to extreme lengths by undergoing multiple plastic surgeries to resemble his favorite superhero. Despite the efforts, critics claim that while Chavez has come close to his ideal appearance, he still resembles more of a hobbit in a superhero costume, as he is shorter than the canonical Superman height of 193 cm.

According to a video report by Marie Lozano from the news program 'Bandila News' in October 2011, 35-year-old Herbert Chavez has dramatically transformed his appearance to look like Superman. Chavez first went under the knife of a plastic surgeon in 1995, when he was barely a teenager, and has since undergone a series of additional plastic surgeries. He had a rhinoplasty to achieve the perfect nose of the handsome Christopher Reeves, altered his chin to give it a more masculine look and developed a dimple, used silicone injections to make his lips fuller, and even implanted special overlays on his thighs to make them more muscular.
In the case of his thighs, it is unclear why Herbert didn't simply go to the gym and find a qualified trainer. Upon closer examination of the before and after photos of Herbert Chavez, it becomes clear that he has also completely changed his Asian eye shape and altered the oval shape of his face, cheek structure, and even his jawline.
Chavez, who is likely involved in training for beauty pageants (whatever that may mean), has an extensive collection of various Superman memorabilia and relics, including life-size superhero statues (in which Chavez barely reaches the shoulder in the photos), miniature figurines, clothing, comics, and other items. He is obsessed with cosplay and, judging by the photos on his Facebook page, enjoys posing as both Superman and Clark Kent.
It is unknown what his family thinks about his obsession, but psychiatrists speculate that Herbert Chavez may be suffering from dysmorphophobia or body dysmorphic disorder, a condition in which a person cannot stop thinking about perceived flaws in their appearance, even if these flaws do not actually exist.
Despite the concerns, let us hope that the Filipino son of Krypton will eventually meet his Lois Lane.
