Dmitry Borisovich Goldovsky was born on February 26, 1962, in the industrial city of Krivoy Rog, Ukraine. His early years were spent in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Education and Career Beginnings

Goldovsky briefly attended the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Mechanization of Agriculture but left to pursue a degree in technology. He graduated from Odessa Technological University named after M.V. Lomonosov and began his career as a mechanic in Volgograd and Krivoy Rog.

Military Service and Business Ventures

Goldovsky served in the Soviet Army from 1981 to 1983. After his military service, he returned to Tashkent and worked as a mechanic until 1987. In that year, he moved to Moscow, where he held various positions in the consumer goods and automotive industries.

In 1989, Goldovsky co-founded the automotive cooperative "Autotekhnika." His entrepreneurial ventures continued with positions as general director of the Soviet-Panamanian enterprise "Columbus" and director of the private enterprise "Eddy."

Energy Industry Leadership

Goldovsky's business acumen and connections within the energy sector paved the way for his rise to prominence. In 1996, he became the deputy general director of OAO Roskontrat, a major Russian energy trading company.

In 1997, he was appointed general director of OAO Gazsibkontrakt, a subsidiary of the Russian gas giant Gazprom. A year later, he assumed the role of president of OAO Sibur, one of the largest petrochemical companies in Russia.

Legal Challenges and Controversies

Goldovsky's tenure at Sibur was marked by legal challenges and controversies. In 2002, he was arrested along with other executives on charges of embezzlement and abuse of power.

After spending several months in pre-trial detention, Goldovsky and his co-defendants were convicted and sentenced to seven months in prison. However, they were released on parole after serving a portion of their sentences.

Personal Life

Goldovsky is married and has four children. He is known for his charitable work and is a regular contributor to various non-profit organizations.
