Early Life and Tennis BeginningsIga Świątek was born in Warsaw, Poland, on March 31, 2001. Her father, Tomasz Świątek, is a former Olympic rower, and her mother, Dorota Świątek, is an orthodontist. Iga's older sister, Agata, also played tennis but retired due to injuries.
Inspired by her sister, Iga took up tennis at a young age. She quickly demonstrated her talent and won the Junior Fed Cup in 2016. Two years later, she earned a gold medal at the Summer Youth Olympic Games in doubles with Slovenian player Kaja Juvan.
