Early Life and Education

Igor Yusufov was born on February 7, 1960 in Leningrad, Russia. He graduated with a degree in economics from Leningrad State University in 1982 and later earned a doctorate in economics.

Academic and Government Career

After completing his studies, Yusufov worked as a lecturer at Leningrad universities from 1982 to 1990. In 1990, he became a chief specialist in the Committee for Economic Reform of the Leningrad Executive Committee.

In 1991, Yusufov was appointed head of the market reform department of the Committee for Economic Development of the Saint Petersburg mayor's office. He rose through the ranks, becoming deputy chairman in 1992 and first deputy chairman in 1993.

In 1994, Yusufov became chairman of the Committee for Land Reform and Resources of the Saint Petersburg mayor's office.

Federal Government Service

In April 1997, Yusufov became chairman of the Russian State Committee for Land Resources and Land Management. On May 5, 1998, he was appointed Minister for Land Policy, Construction, and Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation.

The ministry was abolished on September 22, 1998. On May 31, 1999, Yusufov was appointed Minister for Antimonopoly Policy and Entrepreneurship Support of the Russian Federation.

Corporate Affiliations

On June 30, 2000, Yusufov was elected to the board of directors of RAO UES of Russia. He also joined the board of directors of OAO Gazprom on the same date.

Academic Contributions and Personal Life

Yusufov has published over 20 scholarly works on economics. He is fluent in French and English.

Yusufov is married and has three children.
