Early Life and Career
Borislav Mikhailov is a Bulgarian football coach and former goalkeeper. Born in Vratsa, he began his career with Botev Vratsa in 1981, spending seven seasons with the club. His impressive performances caught the attention of CSKA Sofia, who acquired his services in 1988.
CSKA Sofia and International Debut
At CSKA Sofia, Mikhailov became the first-choice goalkeeper, featuring prominently for two seasons. In 1983, he made his international debut for Bulgaria. Despite being primarily a backup to fellow goalkeeper Borislav Mikhailov, he accumulated 31 caps for the national team and represented Bulgaria at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
International Career
Throughout his eight-year international career, Borislav Mikhailov primarily served as Bulgaria's backup goalkeeper. He provided valuable support to the team and played a role in their World Cup campaign.
Foreign Adventures
Mikhailov embarked on a series of international stints, playing for Dynamo Berlin (1990-1991), Austria Wien (1991-1993), and Karşıyaka (1993-1994) before ending his professional playing career with Denizlispor in Turkey (1994-1995).
Coaching Career
After a brief hiatus, Borislav Mikhailov returned to football in 1999 as the manager of Botev Vratsa. He subsequently served as goalkeeping coach for Cherno More (2002-2004) and CSKA Sofia (2006-2007), completing his coaching career thus far.
