Early LifeIrina Alferova was born on March 13, 1951, in Novosibirsk. Her parents, who came from humble families, were able to obtain legal education after the war. Despite their lack of connection to the arts, Irina had always dreamed of being on stage. In school, she was considered a beauty, which attracted the attention of boys and envy of her friends. Initially, she felt self-conscious about it, but eventually, it passed. Thanks to her natural beauty and exceptional acting abilities, Irina was able to break into the amateur theater scene where she performed successfully for several years.
Early Career
After graduating from school, Alferova made a firm decision to become an actress and moved to Moscow. She was fortunate enough to be accepted into GITIS (The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts) in V. Dudin's class. However, learning the basics of acting proved to be challenging for her. She was often criticized for being too attractive and unable to portray emotions on stage that she didn't genuinely feel. Years later, as a recognized actress, Irina revealed that the theater instructors wanted everyone to succeed on their first try, which is not how things work.
Love and Marriage
During her first year at GITIS, Irina Alferova met her first love, Boyko Gyurov, a student at MGIMO (Moscow State Institute of International Relations) and the son of a high-ranking Bulgarian diplomat. They got married and moved to Boyko's homeland, where they lived in a beautiful mansion. In 1974, they welcomed their daughter, Ksenia. For a while, Alferova lived in two countries. After finishing GITIS, she was offered the role of Dasha in the TV series "Walking on Coals" (1977), which she could not refuse. The filming took up a lot of time, so Irina had to leave the theater. After five years of working on the film, she realized that she couldn't live without Moscow. Although parting with her husband was difficult, Alferova had no doubt about the correctness of her choice.
Attaining Popularity
In 1976, Irina Alferova found herself on the stage of the Lenin Komsomol Theater, where she met Alexander Abdulov. She remembers that day very well. Abdulov played the lead role in the production of "The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta" and charmed her from the first glance. He exuded incredible energy, passion, and reliability. The actress thought that this man could fulfill her dreams and fell in love. In the same year, Irina and Alexander officially formalized their relationship. For some time, they had to live in a dormitory, but thanks to the help of Yevgeny Leonov, they eventually obtained an apartment. Alferova and Abdulov were considered the most beautiful couple in the Soviet Union, but their marriage was seen as an obstacle to Irina's theater career. Abdulov always got the leading roles, while Irina settled for smaller ones. She remained in the shadow of her talented husband. However, Irina Alferova gained recognition through her work in film. In 1978, director Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich started filming the TV movie "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers" (1979). The role of Constance had already been confirmed for Eugenia Simonova, but the leadership of Goskino (State Cinema) made the director change his mind and cast Alferova instead. The reasons for this decision are still unknown, but the fact remains that viewers saw the charming Irina Alferova on their screens.
Later Years
In 1991, while filming the movie "Sheriff's Star," Irina Alferova met her old acquaintance, actor Sergey Martynov. They had a passionate romance that was accompanied by numerous scandals. A year earlier, she was rumored to be in a relationship with singer Alexander Serov, with whom she appeared in his music video "You Love Me." However, even Abdulov was not an exemplary husband. There were legends about his romantic adventures. He once admitted that he had as many women in his life as he wanted, but Alferova remained his only eternal love.
Nevertheless, they could no longer continue living together. In 1993, Irina divorced Abdulov and married Martynov. She adopted his children from his first marriage, Sergey and Anastasia, and also took responsibility for raising her late sister Tatiana's son, Alexander. Alferova admits that she sometimes reminisces about her years with Abdulov and begins to cry. Martynov always joked that she should adopt him. In 2008, the brilliant actor passed away.
Irina Alferova struggled to cope with Abdulov's death but found the strength to continue living and working. In difficult moments, she was always supported by her husband and adopted children.
