Her Early Life and Education

Irina Mak was born on July 3, 1970, in Mogilev-Podolsky District, Vinnytsia Oblast, Ukraine. Her family instilled in her a sense of modesty, so she never aspired for fame or recognition. In 1994, she graduated from the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Karyi University of Theater, Cinema, and Television.

Her Acting Career

Mak made her film debut in "The Princess," a story about an orphaned girl raised by her relatives. After a hiatus, she appeared in the TV series "Return of Mukhtar-3" and subsequently featured in films such as "Women's Doctor" and "The Sniffer."

On stage, she has performed in numerous plays at the Kyiv Academic Drama and Comedy Theater on the Left Bank of the Dnieper, including "Two Baba Yagas," "I Need You, Gentlemen!" "Twelfth Night," and "Cherry Orchard." She received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Hester Collier in the play "Don't Leave Me."

In 2018, she starred in the film "Mia Donna" and in 2020, she played a role in the film "Numbers," an ironic dystopian story where society is governed by a strict system and individuals are assigned numbers instead of names.

Personal Life

Mak is married to director Igor Tikhomirov. Their son, Makar, was born on January 6, 1997. Despite her mother's initial reluctance, Makar pursued a career in acting, making his debut in the TV series "The Heart Does Not Command."

Makar graduated from the same theater university as his mother. He has starred alongside her in several stage productions, including "No Spectators Allowed for the Performance!"

Recent Work

On January 5, 2021, Mak starred in the play "House," which premiered online and in theaters. She played Annie, a woman in conflict with her sister and two daughters.

In February 2021, she appeared in the TV series "The Good Soul" on the Russian channel "Russia 1." The series explores the themes of compassion, personal sacrifice, and social inequality.

In the same month, she performed in the play "Guarantee for 2 Years" at the Drama and Comedy Theater on the Left Bank of the Dnieper. The play delved into the pervasive influence of technology and social media on contemporary life.
