Biography of Jack Trout

Jack Trout is a renowned marketing strategist, popularizer, and the founder and president of "Trout&Partners," a marketing agency based in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, USA. He is also the author of the concept of "Positioning."

Trout began his career in the advertising department of General Electric and later served as the head of the advertising department at "Uniroyal." He worked alongside Al Ries and Jack El in an advertising agency that focused on marketing strategy for 25 years. In their book "Marketing Warfare," Trout and his colleagues applied the theories of military strategist Carl von Clausewitz to draw analogies between corporate competition and warfare. However, their views diverged, with Ries continuing to work with his daughter while Trout preferred to keep family out of his business affairs. As a result, Trout established his own agency, "Trout&Partners."

Currently, Trout manages a global network of experts who implement his methodology. He consults with over 80 Fortune Global 500 companies, including Audi, Merrill Lynch, AT&T, IBM, Burger King, Lotus, MasterCard, Ericsson, Tetra Pak, Hewlett-Packard, Procter & Gamble, Southwest Airlines, DuPont, Intel, Sotheby's, and Xerox.

Trout's presentations on marketing are engaging and humorous. His ideas are simple, understandable, and do not require any special knowledge of marketing theory or professional education.
