With three World Championship titles in difficulty climbing (2012, 2018, 2021) and one in combined (2018), as well as an Olympic bronze medal, he has established himself as one of the sport's most successful athletes.

Early Life and Career

Born on December 31, 1990, in Innsbruck, Austria, Jacob Schubert first discovered climbing through his godfather at the age of 12. In 2004, he began competing in the Youth European and World Championships. By 2007, he had progressed to the Climbing World Cup in difficulty climbing, later adding bouldering to his repertoire.

World Cup and Championship Success

After strong performances in previous years, Schubert achieved a remarkable breakthrough in 2011. He secured both the World Cup and World Championship titles in difficulty climbing, winning seven consecutive stages in the former. This accomplishment surpassed the previous record of six consecutive victories set by Alexander Chabot in 2002.

Continuing his dominance in 2012, Schubert also placed third in the overall bouldering World Cup standings while competing in all events. He added a gold medal in difficulty climbing at the World Championships in Paris.
