Father of Java: James Gosling

James Gosling is renowned as the creator of the Java programming language, a cross-platform and object-oriented technology.

Early Education and Career

Gosling's academic journey began at the University of Calgary, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 1977. He further pursued a PhD at Carnegie Mellon University, graduating in 1983 with a dissertation titled "The Algebraic Manipulation of Constraints."

Sun Microsystems and the Creation of Java

Gosling joined Sun Microsystems in 1984. His groundbreaking work at Sun includes the development of the NeWS window system, Gosling Emacs, and his role in the Star Seven project. Most notably, he led the creation of the Java programming language, which was released in 1995.

Departure from Oracle

After Sun Microsystems was acquired by Oracle, Gosling left the company on April 2, 2010. He cited Oracle's "poor treatment of the Java developer community" and an attempt to reduce his salary as reasons for his departure.

Google and Liquid Robotics

In March 2011, Gosling joined Google. However, his tenure was short-lived. By August 2011, he had left the internet giant to join the startup Liquid Robotics, where he became the Chief Software Architect.
