A NonaGenarian Wedding in Ghana
In a remarkable celebration, a nonagenarian couple from Ghana exchanged vows after sharing over 50 years of life together.
A Half-Century of Love
James, who was just four years shy of his centenary, married his long-time partner, 93-year-old Margaret, on August 3, 2019. Their union marked a significant milestone, representing half a century of companionship and the birth of nine children.
A Blessed Ceremony
Dressed in festive white attire, Mr. and Mrs. Andorful pledged their love and devotion at the altar. The ceremony was officiated by Reverend James Oko Barnor, who shared a biblical passage from Amos 3:3: "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" He expounded, "For a couple to live under one roof for 50 years means there is understanding."
The Challenge of Divorce
Reverend Barnor also addressed the rising divorce rate in Ghana, attributing it to the growing prevalence of dissatisfaction. He emphasized that in the past, people were more content with the little they had and found ways to reconcile differences.
Advice for the Younger Generation
The clergyman advised the younger generation to refrain from comparing their marriages to others. Instead, he urged them to appreciate the blessings God has bestowed upon them and strive to honor the sanctity of their unions.
