A Polish woman who woke up after being declared dead
Janina Kolkiewicz, a 91-year-old woman from Poland, recently experienced an event that could easily be talked about in the past tense. One autumn day in 2014, Janina's nephew entered her room and found her lying motionless as if not breathing. The family doctor, called urgently, also found no pulse in Mrs. Kolkiewicz and declared her dead. As her relatives began mourning and preparing for the funeral, Janina was transported to the morgue. She spent 11 hours in the morgue, and no one could have expected that this elderly woman, placed in a standard body bag, was alive. When Janina regained consciousness and started moving, the morgue staff was astonished.
A miraculous resurrection

In the middle of the night, a call came to the deceased woman's house, bringing news of Janina's miraculous resurrection. It is difficult to imagine the emotions of her family, but certainly, the preparations for the funeral ceremony had to be hastily canceled and replaced with preparations to welcome the revived Janina. Her nephew later recounted that when they brought her home, she complained about the cold, was hungry, and desperately wanted a hot cup of tea. Investigation into the case of Janina being declared dead while still alive had already begun. The attending doctor insisted that Janina indeed had no pulse, and it was impossible to consider that she was not dead.
A strong and independent woman

Janina's nephew, Bogumil Kolkiewicz, later mentioned that his aunt was exceptionally healthy, even at over ninety years old. Apart from atherosclerosis, she had no other health issues, with excellent blood pressure and no diabetes. Her death was a great shock and sorrow for everyone, as Janina was perfectly capable of managing her household independently and rarely asked for assistance. However, her relatives never left her alone. The case of Janina Kolkiewicz, waking up in the morgue almost half a day after being declared dead, was deemed strange and inexplicable. The doctor who issued the death certificate had been working as a therapist for nearly thirty years and had never encountered such a case before, so there is no reason to doubt him. Meanwhile, Mrs. Kolkiewicz returned home, warmed up, and continued to live her life and take care of her household, showing little concern about what had happened to her. However, her relatives will likely continue to watch over her with caution and pay increased attention to their aunt.
