A Tattooist's Restored Hand: Engineer Creates Prosthetic Tattoo Machine
Engineer's Ingenuity
French engineer Gonzal used his skills to create an ingenious prosthesis featuring a fully functional tattoo machine for his artist friend, JC Satan Tenet. Tenet had lost his right arm 22 years prior, which had greatly impacted his ability to create art.
The Artist's Lost Limbs
Tenet's creativity was confined to using his left hand alone. However, Gonzal (Jean-Louis Gonzalez) saw a unique opportunity to restore Tenet's artistic abilities.
Prosthesis Transformed into a Tattoo Tool
Gonzal designed a custom prosthetic arm, complete with a tattoo machine. To give it an eye-catching steampunk aesthetic, he incorporated elements from a typewriter, gramophone, pressure gauge, and other metallic details.
Mastery Over the Artificial Limb
Despite its weight, Tenet skillfully learned to hold the prosthetic arm steady while working. Currently, he controls it primarily through shoulder movements. Gonzal plans to enhance the prosthesis's mobility, particularly in the wrist area.
A New Artistic Chapter
Tenet expressed both excitement and trepidation about using the prosthetic for the first time. "It's scary and amazing at the same time," he said. However, he acknowledged that it was not a replacement for a human hand but rather a specialized tool designed to excel at tattooing.
Further Refinements and Challenges
Currently, the prosthesis requires time-consuming cleaning and replacement of needles and cartridges, making it impractical for regular use. Gonzal continues to work on improving its efficiency.
