Eduard de Pau

Eduard de Pau was a Dutch organist and music educator of Belgian descent. Born in Brussels, Belgium, he studied at the Brussels Conservatory under Alphonse Mailly and graduated in 1873.

Organist in Brussels

In 1872, de Pau became the organist of the Church of St. Boniface in Brussels. He held this position until 1879, when he left Belgium for the Netherlands.

Organist in Amsterdam

In 1879, de Pau moved to Amsterdam and became the resident organist of the Paleis voor Volksvlijt (Palace of Popular Industry). He held this position until 1895, giving weekly concerts and establishing himself as one of the leading organists in the city.

Music Educator

From 1884 until his death, de Pau taught at the Amsterdam Conservatory. He was a highly respected educator and had a significant influence on Dutch organ playing. Among his notable students was Anton van der Horst, who went on to become a renowned composer and organist.
