Contemporary Finnish Artist
The artist in question is a contemporary Finnish painter and educator who currently holds a teaching position at the South Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Imatra.
The "Towards the Sun" Series
In 1989 and 1990, the artist created a series of works collectively titled "Towards the Sun" ("Kohti aurinkoa"). This installation is located in the Arkaim Historical and Cultural Reserve in the Bredinsky District of the Chelyabinsk Region, Russia.
"Towards the Sun" Installation
The installation consists of sheet metal cutouts resembling human hands and heads that rise up from the ground. Several metal sheets are placed horizontally at varying angles in the center of the composition. The concept behind the installation is the connection between past and present generations through the "sun bunnies" reflected off the metal surfaces.
