Biography of Jeff Foxworthy

Jeff Foxworthy (born September 6, 1958) is an American actor and stand-up comedian. He is best known for his series of short jokes titled "You Might Be a Redneck If...". Foxworthy was born in Atlanta, Georgia to James Abstens, a computer specialist, and Carol Linda Foxworthy (Camp). His grandfather, James Marvin Camp, was a firefighter in Hapeville, Georgia for over thirty years.

After graduating from a local high school, Foxworthy attended Georgia Tech University, but did not complete his education. He spent five years working with his father, servicing IBM mainframes. Upon the advice of his colleagues, Foxworthy participated in the "Great Southeastern Laugh-off" comedy competition at the Punchline comedy club in Atlanta, where he emerged as the winner.

Foxworthy is a member of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, alongside fellow comedians Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and Ron White. He has released six comedy albums, two of which have been certified triple platinum by the RIAA. In addition, Foxworthy has authored several books based on his redneck jokes, as well as an autobiography titled "No Shirt, No Shoes... No Problem!".

In the mid-1990s, Foxworthy began his television career with "The Jeff Foxworthy Show". He has also appeared in various Blue Collar specials, including "Blue Collar TV". Since 2007, he has hosted the TV game show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" on Fox and the radio show "The Foxworthy Countdown" on national radio.

Foxworthy is married to Pamela Gregg and they have two daughters, Jordan (born 1992) and Julianna (born 1994). He is an avid hunter and has hosted and guest-starred on several outdoor television programs. He is also involved in missionary work in Africa, particularly in Kenya, supporting the "410 Bridge" missionary project. Foxworthy has personally traveled to Kenya to provide aid to those in need. He also supports the Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center and serves as the honorary chairman of a local golf tournament.

Currently, he hosts the weekly show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" on Fox, and a joint version of the show is set to air on multiple channels starting in September 2009.
