Biography of Jeffrey Bucks
Jeffrey Bucks, the leader of a media enterprise, was born into a fairly wealthy family. His father was a member of the management team at Norton Simon, a prominent company. Unlike his father, Bucks pursued a successful career in the media industry. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey, and grew up in Darien, Connecticut. He attended Deerfield Academy, Yale, and Stanford. Even after earning his Master of Business Administration degree, Bucks maintained his connections with his alma maters and continues to serve on the advisory boards of Yale and Stanford.

After completing his studies, Bucks worked at a distillery for a while. He later moved to New York City and joined one of the divisions of Citibank. From Citibank, Bucks transitioned to HBO, which at the time was just a small department of Time Inc. His role at HBO involved establishing connections with major hotels and convincing their management to subscribe to the HBO channel.

Bucks steadily climbed the career ladder at HBO. From 1986 to 1991, he served as the Chief Financial Officer, from 1991 to 1995, he was the President and Managing Director, and from 1995 to 2002, he held the position of CEO. In 2002, Jeffrey was appointed Chairman of the Entertainment Networks division of Time Warner. In December 2005, Bucks came under the leadership of Dick Parsons, the Chairman and CEO of the company. In 2008, he succeeded Parsons as CEO, while Parsons retained the role of Chairman until 2009.
As CEO of Time Warner, Bucks oversaw a series of major projects, including Time Inc., HBO, Turner Broadcasting (which included CNN, TNT, TBS, and Cartoon Network), Warner Bros., and New Line Cinema.
Jeffrey Bucks was appointed to the Media.NYC.2020 committee by the Mayor of New York City, Michael R. Bloomberg. The committee's task is to analyze the future of the media industry and its development prospects specifically in New York City, and propose the most reasonable measures for this development.
Bucks has been married twice. His first marriage, to successful lawyer Susan Frank Kelley, ended in divorce. He is currently living with former television producer Margaret Lowry Brim. Bucks has a son from each of his marriages and is also a stepfather to Brim's son from her previous marriage.
