Biography of Elena Glebova

Elena Glebova is an Estonian figure skater who competes in women's singles skating. She is a five-time national champion in Estonia. Elena's older brother, Ilya Glebov, is also involved in figure skating and competes in pairs skating with Maria Sergeeva. They are three-time champions of Estonia.

Elena is currently studying at the Tallinn University, majoring in choreography. She began skating at the age of five, following in the footsteps of her older brother, who was advised by doctors to spend more time outdoors. Her first coach was Elena Kononova. Later, both Elena and her brother switched to Anna Levandi as their coach.

In 2004, Elena won her first adult national championship, which allowed her to participate in the Junior World Championships, where she finished in 27th place. Her highest achievement at this tournament was a 6th place finish in 2007. From 2005 to 2008, Elena represented Estonia at both the junior and senior levels. Her best results during this period were 12th place at the European Championships in 2007 and 15th place at the World Championships in 2008. Elena had to skip the national and European championships in 2008 due to an injury. Despite an untreated knee injury, she competed at the World Championships, after which she required surgery.

In the summer of 2008, Elena followed her coach's advice and interned in the United States with renowned choreographer Marina Zueva. In the 2008-2009 season, Elena won her first medal at an international senior tournament, earning silver at the Karl Schäfer Memorial. She also participated in the Grand Prix series that season, competing at Skate Canada (11th place) and Cup of Russia (6th place). In early December, she won her fourth national championship. At the European Championships, Elena placed 12th once again. She finished 16th at the World Championships, earning one Olympic spot for Estonia in women's singles skating at the Vancouver Olympics.
