At the age of 17, Jérémy decided to leave school in 2002 to pursue his chances in the reality show "Star Academy." To participate, he had to lie about his age as the minimum age requirement was 18. When the deception was discovered, the show decided to lower the age limit rather than eliminate the talented candidate. Jérémy proved his talent as a songwriter, composer, and musician, specializing in piano and drums.

In September 2002, Jérémy became a contestant on the second season of "Star Academy," quickly becoming a fan favorite due to his style and charisma. After two and a half months in the "Star Academy" castle, he was eliminated in November. However, he continued his journey in the music industry, releasing his first single "Laisse-moi" in February 2003, followed by "Belle Histoire" in July of the same year.

In January 2004, Jérémy had the opportunity to act in an episode of the crime series "Commissaire Valence," playing the role of Bernard Tapie's son. The role and script were specifically written for him by Bernard Tapie himself. Jérémy's debut album, self-titled "Jérémy Chatelain," was released on October 28, 2003, and featured his own compositions. He also appeared as a guest in the third season of "Star Academy," performing his song "Vivre ça" with one of the contestants.

Aside from his music career, Jérémy had a passion for fashion and launched his own clothing and accessories brand called "Sir Sid" in 2003. His first collection hit the French stores in 2004. In 2003, during a tour, Jérémy met singer Alizée, and they got married on November 6, 2003, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. They have a daughter named Annily, born on April 29, 2005.

In 2006, Jérémy released his second album, "Variétés Françaises," with the lead single "Katmandou" in early 2006. However, the album didn't achieve the same commercial success as his debut album. He then focused on producing albums for other musicians and his wife. In 2008, he became the artistic director for the tour of the seventh season of "Star Academy." In 2010, he ventured into musical comedy and composed 12 songs for the musical "Pollux et son manège enchanté."
