The Loudest Person in the World
Jill Drake, a married woman from Tenterden, Kent, became the loudest person in the world. Even professional singers with powerful vocal cords cannot produce a sound louder than 120 dB, yet Jill managed to emit a sound level of 129 decibels, just 10 decibels lower than the noise made by a jet aircraft during takeoff. However, attempts to surpass her continue, particularly in Thailand.
Discovering her Unusual Talent
Jill Drake, a mother of two children and an assistant teacher in her coastal hometown, accidentally discovered her extraordinary talent during a trip to London. Perhaps her work with children helped her develop her vocal cords to such an extent. However, she only learned about her abilities during a screaming competition held under the white dome of the Millennium Dome. Jill was able to reproduce a sound at a level of 129 decibels, breaking the world record. She stated that she knew she had a loud voice but had no idea how loud. The new world champion, whose scream was 9 decibels louder than the sound of a train typhoon, stated, "I went to the Millennium Dome with friends and heard a woman screaming in the competition. And I thought I could do it much better." Mrs. Drake continued, "My friends told me to participate as well, so I stood up and screamed. Then the organizers exclaimed, 'Oh my god, you broke the world record.'"
Taking her Talent to Los Angeles
After her triumphant victory as the loudest screamer in the world, Jill was invited to Los Angeles, where she had to scream for about an hour to promote Disneyland's new attraction, "Twilight Zone Tower of Terror." The noise level of Jill's scream was comparable to the sound produced by a jackhammer. Her sound level of 129 decibels was just 10 decibels lower than the noise made by a jet aircraft during takeoff. Before Jill's record was entered into the Guinness World Records, the title of the loudest person in the world belonged to Simon Robinson from South Africa. In 1988, he emitted a scream with a volume of 128 decibels.
