Further Championship Glory and Tragedy

In 1965, Clark won the Tasman Series and claimed his second Formula 1 World Championship. He won six races in the first seven events of the season, including the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix.

In 1966, the advent of the 3-liter era saw Clark and Lotus struggle for dominance. He finished sixth in the championship and won only the United States Grand Prix.

Lotus's Resurgence and Final Victory

In 1967, Lotus regained its competitiveness. Clark won four races, but reliability issues prevented him from winning the championship.

Record-Breaking Achievements and Tragic Demise

In 1968, Clark won the South African Grand Prix, becoming the first driver to surpass Juan Manuel Fangio's record of 24 Grand Prix victories. He went on to win four Tasman Series races and a Formula 2 race in Barcelona.

Tragically, Clark's career was cut short on April 7, 1968. He was killed while leading the first race of the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.

Jim Clark's legacy as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time remains unblemished. His combination of speed, skill, and determination made him a true icon of the sport.
