Biography of Jim Reid

Jim Reid, the lead vocalist of the Scottish alternative rock band "The Jesus and Mary Chain," was born on December 29, 1961. He formed the acclaimed music collective with his older brother, guitarist William Reid. The band released six studio albums before disbanding in 1999. Their first full-length release was the album "Psychocandy" in 1985, and in 1996, they gifted their fans with the album "Munki."

The Jesus and Mary Chain

The Jesus and Mary Chain gained significant recognition for their song "Just Like Honey," which is considered the most famous track by the band. It was featured as a soundtrack in the film "Lost in Translation." In March 2007, the members of the Scottish group reunited.

Freeheat and Solo Career

Jim Reid, along with former Jesus and Mary Chain drummer Nick Sanderson and guitarist Ben Lurie, formed the indie rock band "Freeheat." The new band embarked on several concert tours and released a mini-album called "Retox" before parting ways in 2003. In 2005, Reid released his first solo single "Song For A Secret" under the label "Transistor," followed by "Dead End Kids" in June 2006, also released by "Transistor."

Actress Scarlett Johansson joined the band on stage to perform the song "Just Like Honey." On April 26, 2007, during a concert in Pomona, California, Annie Hardy joined "The Jesus and Mary Chain" instead of Johansson.

Recent Activities

The band's first performance in the UK after their reunion took place at the "Meltdown" festival in June 2007. In an interview with "Uncut" magazine, Jim Reid revealed that a new album from the band was in the works. In March 2008, "The Jesus and Mary Chain" released the studio recording "All Things Must Pass," which served as the soundtrack for the NBC television series "Heroes." It was their first song released since 1998.
