Early Career
In 1989, Sheridan directed his first film, the biographical drama "My Left Foot: The Story of Christy Brown." Initially considered disabled by those around him, Brown learns to draw and write using his left foot, with the help of his mother's love and support. "My Left Foot" garnered widespread attention and received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Actor for Daniel Day-Lewis and Best Supporting Actress for Brenda Fricker, both of whom won the awards.

Notable Films
Following his remarkable directorial debut, Sheridan directed the dramatic film "The Field" in 1990. The film focuses on Irish tenant farmers who face the threat of losing their land. Sheridan's subsequent works, despite their varied themes and plots, consistently proved to be significant, powerful, and distinctive films. The sports drama "The Boxer" tells the story of a former boxer trying to rebuild his life after his release from prison. He seeks to start anew by rebuilding his old boxing gym and teaching local boys the sport, protecting them from the streets he once suffered from.
In 2002, Sheridan directed "In America," which centers around Irish immigrants in search of a better life in New York City. "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," released in 2005, is based on the real-life experiences of popular rapper Curtis Jackson, known as "50 Cent." The film explores the story of a young drug dealer who decides to leave his past behind.
