Biography of Joan Severance
Joan Severance is an American actress and producer, who was a former fashion model. She was born into a family of an electronic engineer working for IBM. Due to her father's job involving frequent travel, Joan traveled a lot from an early age. When she turned nine, her family found themselves in Libya, where they experienced the six-day war in 1967. As soon as it became possible, the family left Libya and returned to their hometown of Houston, where they settled.
Early Career
At the age of 15 in 1973, Joan tried to enroll in college to study veterinary medicine, but her family did not have enough funds for her education. In the same year, in order to earn money for her studies, Joan started working as a model and participated in the Miss Houston beauty pageant of 1974. It was during this competition that she was noticed by John Casablancas, a representative of the Elite modeling agency, and in early 1975, she flew to Paris to pursue a modeling career. In 1977, she married twenty-five-year-old Eric Milan, who also worked as a model for the Elite agency. Joan became quite successful as a model, appearing in advertisements for brands like Chanel and Versace, and gracing the covers of numerous fashion magazines.
Acting Career
In the late 1970s, Joan returned to the United States, settling in New York, where she continued to work as a model. She became the face of well-known brands such as Windsong perfume, Breck shampoo, Clairol, L'oreal, Revlon, and Maybelline. In the mid-1980s, Joan began receiving roles in films, making her debut in the 1987 movie "Lethal Weapon" where she played a minor role. After that, she mostly portrayed seductive beauties of varying degrees of undress in B-grade films.
She is best known to Russian audiences for her role as the seductive beauty Eve in the 1989 film "See No Evil, Hear No Evil." In 1989, Joan posed for Playboy magazine, with her photoshoot appearing in the January issue, and she was also featured on the cover.
In the 1990s, Joan continued to work in low-budget films and television series. Her notable roles include the films "Bird On A Wire" in 1990, the erotic drama "Lake Consequence" directed by Zalman King in 1993, where she starred alongside Kevin Spacey, and the thriller "Payback" in 1995. She also began appearing in TV series, achieving certain success. She appeared in several episodes of "Red Shoe Diaries" alongside David Duchovny in 1993, and in 1995, she starred in the successful TV movie "Black Scorpion."
