Joe Biden, the current President-elect of the United States, was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He became the oldest person in the country's history to be elected President at the age of 77, winning the 2020 election. Biden served as the 47th Vice President of the United States from January 20, 2009, to January 20, 2017, alongside Barack Obama.

Before becoming Vice President, Biden was a senator from Delaware from 1973 to 2009. He was a member of the Democratic Party and held leadership positions in the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations and Judiciary.

Biden ran for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in 1988 and 2008 but withdrew from both campaigns early on. He gained recognition for his resolution in the Senate to authorize the military operation against Yugoslavia in 1999.

In August 2008, Barack Obama nominated Biden as his running mate for the Vice President of the United States. Biden served in this role from January 20, 2009, to January 20, 2017.
