Biography of Joe Bonamassa
Joe Bonamassa is an incredibly talented American musician and blues rock guitarist. He devotes a lot of his energy to promoting blues music, conducting masterclasses and participating in programs to popularize this musical style. Joe Bonamassa was born in 1977 in New Hartford, New York. His parents owned a guitar store, so Joe was introduced to the instrument at a very early age. It is known that at the age of four, young Joe was already playing the guitar with a special child-sized instrument. By the age of seven, Joe was able to play a regular adult guitar, and by the age of 10, he had already started performing. It's worth mentioning that Joe comes from a family of musicians. His great-grandfather and grandfather were trumpeters, and his father was also a guitarist. Those who knew Joe from childhood said that even as a child, he could flawlessly mimic his idols, such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix. When he was 12 years old, he had the honor of opening for the legendary B.B. King, who was very impressed with the young guitarist's talent and even called him a "legend" in an interview. At the age of 14, Joe received an invitation from the famous guitar company "Fender Guitar" to participate in a series of their concerts and recordings. It was there that Joe Bonamassa met several of his peers, young prodigy musicians, and together they soon formed an interesting band called "Bloodline." The band was unique because it consisted of children of famous musicians. Erin, the son of Miles Davis, played the drums in "Bloodline," Waylon, the son of legendary guitarist from "The Doors" Robbie Krieger, played the guitar, and Berry Oakley Jr., the son of the deceased bassist of "The Allman Brothers Band," played the bass. However, this project was not destined to last long. After recording a couple of albums, "Bloodline" disbanded at the height of their success. In 2000, Joe Bonamassa released his debut solo album, "A New Day Yesterday," which was met with great interest. The album featured collaborations with notable rock musicians such as Gregg Allman, Rick Derringer, and Leslie West. After extensive touring to support his album, Bonamassa began recording his second album, which was released in 2002 under the title "So, It's Like That." This time, he couldn't replicate the success of his debut album. Although the album reached high positions in charts, the public did not receive it as enthusiastically as his first album. There was an opinion that he tried too hard to experiment on the record, resulting in a "heavy" sound throughout the album. In 2003, Bonamassa released "Blues Deluxe," which coincided with the Congress declaring it the "Year of the Blues." Joe was involved in numerous blues events and cultural projects during this time, besides promoting blues music. Bonamassa managed to gain some popularity in the mainstream as well. His 2004 album, "Had to Cry Today," was primarily a guitar-focused record, which received mixed reviews from music critics. However, in 2006, Bonamassa proved that his best work was not behind him. His album "You & Me" surprised and delighted many listeners with his excellent vocals and collaborations with high-class musicians. In 2007, his album "Sloe Gin" spent several weeks at the top of the Billboard Blues Chart, and in 2009, "The Ballad of John Henry" was released, produced by Kevin Shirley, who had previously worked with Joe. The album again reached the top of the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart. In 2010, Joe offered his audience the album "Black Rock," which also made its way onto the Billboard chart. In 2011, "Dust Bowl" was released. Joe Bonamassa's most recent album to date, "Driving Towards the Daylight," was released in 2012. In addition to studio albums, Joe has also recorded a number of videos. It is known that Bonamassa continues to tour actively, having performed concerts in Russia, including Moscow in 2010 and St. Petersburg in 2012. Since 2010, Joe has been a member of the supergroup "Black Country Communion," along with Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, and Derek Sherinian.
