Biography of Joey Lauren Adams
Joey Lauren Adams is an American actress who found her niche in Hollywood playing seductive young women. Born on January 6, 1971, in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, Adams began her career with a role in the Fox television series 'Top of the Heap' where she portrayed the girl next door, Mona. She later played similar roles in the Fox series 'Vinnie & Bobby' alongside Matt LeBlanc, as well as in the shows 'CBS Schoolbreak Special', 'Words Up!', and 'Married... with Children'.

In the late 1990s, Adams began building her career in film. She started with small roles in independent films such as 'Dazed and Confused' (1993) and 'The Pros and Cons of Breathing'. Her appearance in the film 'Mallrats' alongside James Caan and 'Sleep with Me', where her character's storyline was intertwined with two main plots, gained attention. In 'Japanese City Cop' (1994), she played the former girlfriend of Steven Dorff's character. In 1995, Adams starred in the film 'Mallrats' alongside Ben Affleck. The film's director and screenwriter, Kevin Smith, created the film 'Chasing Amy' specifically for Adams in 1997, which became her most lyrical film with Smith.
Adams gained attention not only from her co-stars, such as Ben Affleck, but also from critics and audiences. This attention led to offers for her to star alongside Vince Vaughn in 'A Cool, Dry Place' and with Adam Sandler in 'Big Daddy' in 1998 and 1999, respectively.
Later, Adams continued to appear in low-budget films such as Shirley MacLaine's directorial debut 'Bruno' and Sally Field's directorial debut 'Beautiful'. In 2001, she had a small role in the film 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back' and appeared in the crime film 'Driven' about a hitman, played by Matthew Modine, who goes to Hollywood to take out a stuntman, played by James Caan.
Adams then played one of the lead roles in the film 'Harvard Man' (2001) as an almost thirty-year-old philosophy professor. She also voiced the character of Squirrel in 'Doctor Dolittle 2'. She later worked on the TV project 'On the Edge', consisting of three short films, and continued to appear in films.
In 2003, Adams starred in the film 'The Big Empty', a dark comedy about an actor who tries to make easy money by delivering a suitcase given to him by a stranger, and in 'Grand Champion', a heartwarming family film about a single mother from Texas and her son who steals a prize-winning bull that a buyer planned to take for meat. Audiences eagerly awaited the release of the film 'The Break-Up', in which Adams starred alongside Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. She played a friend whose advice only exacerbates the situation the couple finds themselves in.
The film 'Come Early Morning' marked Adams' second directorial debut in which she also wrote the screenplay. The drama film follows the life of a thirty-year-old woman whose life rapidly changes when she learns the truth about her family's past and about herself.
Among Adams' recent projects are the films 'Trucker' (2008) and 'Away We Go' (2009), as well as the television series 'Party Down' (2009).
As for her personal life, Adams has dated Kevin Smith (director of her first notable film) and Vince Vaughn, with whom she worked on multiple projects. However, both relationships eventually ended.
