Early Life and Education
Transition to OrientalismIn the 1840s, after an influential trip to the Mediterranean region, Ludwig became the first Berlin artist to focus on depicting the life and customs of the East. His Orientalist paintings gained him widespread recognition, including masterpieces such as:

Later Career
