Early Life and Minor League Career

John David Bannister was born on January 20, 1984, in Tucson, Arizona. From a young age, he displayed a passion for baseball. After graduating from Sabino High School, he signed a free-agent contract that allowed him to play in various Minor League Baseball teams.

2003-2005 Seasons

Bannister's first season (2003) was with the Arizona Rangers. He recorded his first win on August 1st against the Arizona Royals. Despite a 4.22 Earned Run Average (ERA), Bannister notched a save that season.

In 2004, he played for the Spokane Indians and Clinton LumberKings. With the Indians, he struck out 67 batters in 16 games, posting a 3.51 ERA. He ranked fifth in the league in strikeouts and fifth in runs allowed. Bannister recorded two seven-strikeout performances: one against the Vancouver Canadians on July 25th and the other against the Tri-City Dust Devils on August 17th. He was also named a Midseason Northwest League All-Star.

In 2005, Bannister spent the entire season with the Clinton LumberKings. He began strongly but finished with a 5.42 ERA and 79 strikeouts. For the second consecutive year, he was recognized as a Midwest League Midseason All-Star.

2006-2008 Seasons

From 2006 to 2008, Bannister played for the AZL Rangers, Bakersfield Blaze, and Frisco RoughRiders.

2009 Season

In 2009, Bannister was invited to the Texas Rangers' spring training camp. Despite his solid performance, the Rangers signed Esteban Germаn instead. He briefly had a deal with the Kansas City Royals, but returned to free agency by the end of the season.
