John Rhys-Davies was born on May 5, 1944, in Salisbury, England. He graduated from the University of East Anglia and later enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Theatre and Television Beginnings

After completing his education, Rhys-Davies began his career in theatre and television. He performed in various stage productions and made his television debut in the 1970s.

Iconic Roles in Film and Television

Rhys-Davies is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Gimli the dwarf in the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy (2001-2003). He also appeared as Professor Maximilian Arturo in the science fiction television series "Sliders" (1995-1997) and as General Leonid Pushkin in the James Bond film "The Living Daylights" (1987).
