Early Career


Jolyon Palmer is a British professional racing driver who was born on January 20, 1991. He is the son of former Formula One driver Jonathan Palmer. Palmer began his racing career in 2004, competing in MiniMax karts. In 2005, he moved on to the T Cars Autumn Trophy series, which is for drivers aged 14 to 17. Despite finishing fifth in the championship with a total of 92 points, Palmer showed promise and potential.


Transition to Main Championship


In 2006, Palmer made the transition to the main championship. He earned one pole position and four podium finishes, ultimately finishing the championship in fifth place with 101 points. Although he was 69 points behind Luciano Bacheta, Palmer's performance was notable and he proved himself as a competitive driver. Palmer also participated in the Autumn Trophy for the second time and dominated the championship with four wins in six races.


Focus on Formula Palmer Audi


In 2007, Palmer decided to focus his attention on the Formula Palmer Audi series. He participated in two rounds of the main championship that year, securing two victories. However, his main focus was on his father's series, which Jonathan Palmer had established nine years earlier. Jolyon Palmer finished 12th in his debut race at Silverstone. Throughout the season, his results improved, and he achieved two wins (one at Brands Hatch and another at Oulton Park). These victories, along with two pole positions at Brands Hatch, earned Palmer 10th place in the championship standings with 187 points. Despite his progress, Palmer was unable to compete in the final two rounds due to a abdominal injury sustained in an off-road quad bike accident in West Sussex.


Success in Formula Palmer Audi


Palmer recovered from his injury in time for the 2008 season and fought for the championship title until the final race. Consistency was the key factor for Palmer, as he achieved 11 podium finishes, including a victory at Spa, and three pole positions (all at Brands Hatch). Although he finished in third place with 338 points, just 22 points behind Jason Moore, Palmer's performance was commendable. He also secured third-place finishes in the Autumn Trophy and the FPA Shootout.


Move to Formula 2


In 2009, Palmer made the move to the newly revived FIA Formula 2 series. He competes under car number three and continues to showcase his skills as a talented racing driver.
