Famous Hacker and Talented Engineer
John Johansen, also known as DVD-Jon, is a famous hacker and young talented engineer who gained recognition for creating the program DeCSS, which "cracked" the DVD copy protection system.

Early Life and Education
John Johansen was born on November 18, 1983, in Norway. His father is a Norwegian citizen, while his mother is Polish. From an early age, John demonstrated various talents, particularly in the field of computers, both at school and at home.
The Creation of DeCSS
John dedicated himself to the development of DeCSS, even quitting his studies to focus all his time on his invention. By the early 2000s, the program was ready for use. It was capable of reading and re-encoding DVD disks, skillfully bypassing their protection.
Legal Troubles
In 2002, John Johansen, known as a computer hacker and violator, was brought to a Norwegian court. He was accused of unauthorized actions against the US DVD Copy Control Association (DVD-CCA) and the Motion Picture Association (MPA). Johansen denied all accusations, claiming that these actions were the work of individuals from Germany.
Acquittal and Continued Work
John's trial took place on December 9, 2002. He faced the possibility of several years of imprisonment and significant fines. Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, Norwegian legislation proved to be lenient, and on January 7, 2003, John Johansen was acquitted of all charges. The case was later considered by an appeals commission, but after lengthy proceedings, the courts were eventually dropped. Johansen never stopped working in the field of computer engineering and, in April 2004, he created another program called DeDRMS.
Later Career
In October 2005, John Johansen traveled to the United States and worked in the software industry until November 2006. Afterward, he returned to Norway. Currently, John continues to actively work in the field. In February 2008, he launched the program doubleTwist.
Awards and Recognition
Throughout his life, John Johansen has been repeatedly awarded various honors. Even in school, he received diplomas and certificates acknowledging his outstanding abilities and achievements in different areas, including sports and arts.
