Early Life and Career

Jonathan Duhamel, a Canadian professional poker player, was born in 1987 in Boucherville, Canada. Despite initially planning to study finance, Duhamel started playing poker during his first year of college. As his passion for the game grew, he dedicated less time to his studies, much to the dismay of his parents. However, this decision turned out to be a wise investment for him. Duhamel began playing in local tournaments at the age of 19, showcasing an incredibly aggressive playing style both online and offline. He gained recognition as a member of Team Pokerstars, actively participating in numerous tournaments.

WSOP Triumph and Continued Success

In 2010, at the age of 22, Duhamel made his debut in Las Vegas at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and achieved remarkable success. He became the first Canadian player to win the Main Event, earning a coveted gold bracelet and a prize of $8,944,310. This victory not only marked a milestone for Duhamel but also for Canada, as no other Canadian player had won such a prestigious poker tournament before. In 2012, he further solidified his success by winning the PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure and securing a prize of $1,200,000. By 2012, Duhamel had accumulated winnings totaling $10,900,000 from various tournaments.

Robbery Incident

In December 2011, Duhamel became the victim of a brutal home invasion. The assailants assaulted him and stole several valuable items, including his WSOP championship bracelet and a Rolex watch. However, the police managed to arrest three of the robbers, and some of the stolen items were recovered. Despite this traumatic incident, Duhamel remained resilient and continued to excel in the poker world, constantly striving for self-improvement and victory.
