It is worth noting that bullfighting is recognized as an art form and national heritage in Spain. The decision to allow or ban bullfights is in the hands of the authorities of the autonomous regions. For example, the last bullfight in Catalonia took place in late September 2011. However, on October 7, 2011, during a fair in Zaragoza, Padilla suffered a severe head injury after slipping on sand and being gored by a bull. The horn entered just below his jaw and exited through his left eye socket. Footage of this incident can be found online.

Medical professionals stated that Padilla's injuries were serious due to the proximity of the wound to vital organs of hearing and vision. However, despite this, the renowned bullfighter remains determined to continue his performances and has no intention of canceling his existing contracts.

Those involved in bullfighting claim that what happened to Padilla was simply a stroke of bad luck and that it should not affect people's overall perception of bullfighting as an extremely dangerous activity. Padilla is highly respected and acclaimed in Spain as one of the best contemporary bullfighters. In 1998, he was the main character in the film "Torero."

Padilla is known to be a somewhat superstitious person, but this is not uncommon among individuals involved in bullfighting, as the life of a bullfighter is both challenging and unpredictable.
