Early Years and Education

Julia Adler, a German viola player, was born in Heidelberg, Germany, in May 1978. Her musical journey began at the age of six, when she picked up her first viola. She studied with Hartmut Rohde in Berlin, followed by Johannes Lüthy, Kim Kashkashian, and Wolfram Christ in Freiburg. To further her skills, she sought guidance from Yuri Bashmet.

Competitions and Accolades

Throughout her youth, Adler consistently excelled in the Jugend musiziert competition. Her exceptional talent earned her recognition in 2004 as the top German violist in the Internationaler Musikwettbewerb der ARD. In 2002, she was the recipient of the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Prize.

Solo Performances and Collaborations

Adler's impressive solo repertoire includes the sonatas of Moisei Weinberg. She debuted these works in 2008 and later recorded them for the Neos label with the support of Bayerischen Rundfunk. Her versatility also extends to chamber music, where she is a member of the Berliner Solistenoktett and a reserve musician with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
