Biography of Jurgen Bartsch

Jurgen Bartsch was a German serial killer known for his sadistic and pedophilic tendencies. He committed his first murder when he was still a teenager.

Early Life and Adoption

Jurgen Bartsch was born as Karl Heinz Zadroczynski, the illegitimate son of Anna Zadroczynski, who died of tuberculosis shortly after giving birth. During the first few months of his life, he was placed in a clinic in the city. At the age of 11 months, he was adopted by Gertrude and Gerhard Bartsch, a childless couple from Felbert. They changed his name to Jurgen Bartsch.

Influence of Stepmother

Jurgen's stepmother suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder and placed excessive importance on cleanliness. She did not allow him to get dirty or play with other children. This treatment continued into Jurgen's adulthood, and even at the age of 19, she would bathe him.

Serial Killings

Jurgen Bartsch committed his first murder as a teenager. He belonged to the category of criminals inclined towards sadism and pedophilia. He lured all his victims into a military bunker, where he would sexually assault them and then dismember their bodies. His fifth victim managed to escape.

Arrest and Imprisonment

Bartsch was arrested in 1966 and confessed to his crimes. In late 1967, he was sentenced to life imprisonment, but after an appeal in 1971, his sentence was reduced to 10 years. He was then transferred to a psychiatric clinic in Lippstadt. In 1974, he married Gisela Deike, a nurse from Hanover.

Castration and Death

During his time in the psychiatric clinic, Bartsch's sadistic fantasies persisted. In order to avoid a lifelong imprisonment in the clinic, he agreed to undergo castration. However, during the operation at Eikelborn Hospital, he was mistakenly given a tenfold dose of fluorotane, which resulted in his death.
