Juris Hmelnickis: Latvian Chemist and Business Leader
Early Life and EducationJuris Hmelnickis was born on April 12, 1980, in Ogre, Latvia. His passion for chemistry during his school years guided his decision to pursue higher education in the field.
In 1998, Hmelnickis enrolled in the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Latvia, graduating in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. He continued his studies at the University of Latvia, earning a master's degree in analytical chemistry in 2004.
Concurrently, from 2003 to 2005, Hmelnickis pursued a master's degree in quality management at Riga Technical University. In 2005, he enrolled in the doctoral program at the University of Latvia's Faculty of Chemistry, receiving his PhD in chemistry in 2010.
Career
Early Career at GrindexHmelnickis began his career at Grindex in 2000 as an analytical chemist. In 2003, he became head of Grindex's chromatography laboratory, a position he held until 2009 when he was appointed deputy director of the Quality Department.
In 2010, Hmelnickis was promoted to director of the Quality Department. Concurrently, from 2011 to 2015, he served as a member of the board of the pharmaceutical company Pharmstandard Ufa-Vita in Ufa, Russia.
Role at Grindex
In 2018, Hmelnickis was appointed to the Grindex Management Board. In 2020, he became the Chairman of the Management Board of Grindex.
Alongside his active professional role at Grindex, Hmelnickis has held leadership positions in its subsidiary, Kalceks. From 2012 to 2013, he served as a member of Kalceks' Management Board, and in 2014, he was appointed Chairman of Kalceks' Management Board, a position he held until his appointment as Chairman of Grindex's Management Board. Currently, Hmelnickis is a member of Kalceks' Management Board.
Public Life
Since 2010, Hmelnickis has been a member of the European Qualified Person Association.
