Birth and Early Life

Justin Lee Collins was born in Southmead, Bristol, as the only child to Danny Collins, an electrician, and Anita Collins. After dropping out of Speedwell Technology College without a diploma, Collins began working at Marks & Spencer as a warehouse operative in 1990.

Stand-Up Comedy Career

Collins began performing stand-up comedy while still holding down his day job. In 1997, he won the Best Newcomer award at the Glastonbury Festival and reached the final of BBC's New Comedy Awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. However, he retired from stand-up in 2002 to focus on radio and television productions.

Radio and Television Career

Collins began hosting a radio show on XFM in 2003, which initially aired on Sunday nights but was later moved to a more popular Saturday afternoon slot. He left XFM in 2005 but returned in April 2011. In 2002, Collins presented two television shows for Bravo and MTV and co-hosted the first season of Strictly Come Dancing, until Claudia Winkleman replaced him. From 2005 to 2006, Collins presented The Games: Live At Trackside on E4 with Caroline Flack, which was a spin-off of Channel 4's The Games. He currently co-hosts The Sunday Night Project (formerly The Friday Night Project) with Alan Carr, and has also hosted several episodes of the show Bring Back... In late 2007 and early 2008, Collins hosted Channel 4's The Convention Crasher, in which he acquired various unusual skills, including clowning and ventriloquism. He was a guest on Top Gear on June 22, 2008.

Personal Life and Controversies

Collins was married from 2003 to 2010, and he has two sons, Archie and Harvey, with his ex-wife Karen. He had a relationship with Anna Larke, which ended in 2011. In December 2011, Larke accused Collins of systematic bullying and harassment. She claimed that during their nine-month relationship, Collins had forced her to delete her Twitter and Facebook profiles, close her email account, and discard DVDs of actors she admired. Collins appeared in court on September 24th, and the case was adjourned. The legal proceedings are ongoing.
