Despite a successful start, Rose faced a setback early in his professional career when he failed to qualify for the next 21 matches. However, in 1999, he managed to secure his place on the European Tour by finishing fourth in the qualifying rounds. Over time, Rose established himself as a reliable player on the European Tour.

In 2002, Rose achieved his first professional victory at the Dunhill Championship in South Africa. He went on to win three more tournaments in Europe, Japan, and South Africa that year. By 2003, Rose had climbed to 33rd place in the Official World Golf Ranking and earned enough money to qualify for the PGA Tour.

In 2004, Rose primarily competed in PGA Tour events in America but also participated in the European Tour. However, his ranking dropped out of the top 50 in the world. In early 2005, Rose decided to focus solely on American competitions and withdrew from European games. Unfortunately, this decision did not improve his performance, and he fell out of the top 100 by mid-year.

In November 2006, Rose won the Australian Masters, securing his first title in four years. This marked the beginning of a successful period in his career, as he not only returned to the top 50 but also climbed to 12th place in the rankings, becoming the best British golfer.
