Reign of Kadashman-Ellil I
Kadashman-Ellil I, the son of Kurigalzu I, reigned as the Kasshite King of Babylon from approximately 1375–1360 BCE.
Diplomatic Relations with Egypt
Kadashman-Ellil I maintained close ties with Amenhotep III of Egypt. His sister was married to the Pharaoh, but she did not hold the highest rank among his wives. The king of Babylon expressed concern that his messengers had not seen her at the Egyptian court. Subsequently, Kadashman-Ellil I sent his daughter as a wife for Amenhotep III.
Despite Kadashman-Ellil I's request for an Egyptian princess, Amenhotep III refused, stating that no Egyptian princess had ever been given as a wife "like a common woman." However, the Pharaoh compensated by frequently sending gold and other valuables to support Kadashman-Ellil I's building projects.
Reign and Legacy
Despite the material support provided by Egypt, Kadashman-Ellil I expressed dissatisfaction with its quantity. His reign lasted for 15 years, during which he pursued policies aimed at maintaining his influence in Mesopotamia.
