Early Life and CareerKadri Strickland, born Katherine Dee Strickland on December 14, 1977, in Blackshear, Georgia, discovered her passion for acting at a young age. After making her debut in a local theater production, she pursued higher education at the Philadelphia University of the Arts. While in university, she joined the Screen Actors Guild and adopted the stage name Kadi Strickland.
Film Debut and Early Success
Strickland's film debut came in M. Night Shyamalan's 1999 thriller "The Sixth Sense," followed by a role in James Mangold's biographical drama "Girl, Interrupted" (1999). In 2000, she appeared in the drama "Diamond Men." She made her television debut in the crime series "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2001).
Breakthrough and Notable Roles
Strickland's breakout role came as Tara in the 2004 thriller "The Stepford Wives." The same year, she landed the lead female role in the horror film "Anaconda 2: Hunt for the Blood Orchid." She also appeared in the Japanese horror film remake "The Grudge" (2004), starring alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Rising Career
In 2005, Strickland starred in the sports comedy "Fever Pitch." In 2007, she appeared in the critically acclaimed crime drama "American Gangster," which earned an Oscar nomination for Rudy Dee in the Best Supporting Actress category. Concurrently, she began her role as Dr. Charlotte King in the television series "Private Practice."
