Biography of Kaiane Aldorino
Kaiane Aldorino was born on July 8, 1986, in Gibraltar. She is a Gibraltarian beauty queen who gained recognition after winning the Miss Gibraltar pageant in 2009. This victory led her to represent Gibraltar in the Miss World competition held in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she became the first Miss Gibraltar to reach the semifinals in the history of the Miss World pageant.

Prior to her pageant success, Aldorino worked for five years in the human resources department at St Bernard's Hospital in Gibraltar. She is fluent in both English and Spanish, as is common among the residents of Gibraltar. In her free time, Aldorino enjoys playing netball and working out at the gym.

Dancing has been a lifelong passion for Aldorino, and at the age of 14, she became a member of the "Urban Dance Group" ensemble. She performed with the group both in Gibraltar and abroad, particularly in Spain. Aldorino specializes in modern, hip-hop, and other contemporary dance styles. One of the highlights of her dance career was representing Gibraltar in the International Dance Organisation's World Showdance Championships in Riesa, Germany, in 2008. The Gibraltar national dance team achieved the remarkable feat of advancing past the first round and finishing in 17th place.
On June 27, 2009, Aldorino was crowned Miss Gibraltar during an open-air theater pageant at Alameda. The previous year's Miss Gibraltar, Krystle Robba, presented her with the crown. On December 12, 2009, Aldorino made history by becoming the first Miss World from Gibraltar, surpassing all previous contestants from her country. She also excelled in the talent competition and won the title of Miss World Beach Beauty, a first for a contestant from Gibraltar.
Following her Miss World victory, grand celebrations erupted in Gibraltar, with residents taking to the streets waving national flags, singing, setting off fireworks, and honking car horns. Peter Caruana, the Chief Minister of Gibraltar, congratulated Aldorino on her achievement, hailing it as a fantastic milestone for her and the country. He promised that her homecoming would be fit for a queen.
During her reign, Aldorino traveled extensively, representing Gibraltar in various countries, including the United Kingdom, Japan, Brunei, Hong Kong, Canada, the United States, Spain, Germany, Korea, Italy, Indonesia, South Africa, Ireland, and China.
On December 15, 2009, the Gibraltar government announced that Aldorino would fly back to Gibraltar from London on a private plane the next day. A press release on December 16 detailed the events planned to welcome the national heroine, including public greetings at the Gibraltar airport and a parade on the main street, during which Aldorino rode in an open car alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, who were visiting Gibraltar during their honeymoon. The Royal Gibraltar Regiment Band led the parade. Aldorino later appeared on the balcony of the Mayor's office, followed by a press conference and a reception at the Rock Hotel. The celebrations concluded with a fireworks display in the harbor.
Interestingly, the government requested that all businesses in Gibraltar release their employees early so they could participate in the evening festivities.
