Kajetan Kwiatkowski was a renowned Polish historian.Education and Early Career
Born in Poland, Kwiatkowski pursued an academic path. He served as the director of a gymnasium in Kielce, where he amassed an impressive collection of ancient books and manuscripts.
Acquisition of Historical Documents
In 1821, Kwiatkowski's collection was purchased by Count Działyński. These documents are currently housed in the Kórnik Library in Poznań. Kwiatkowski utilized them extensively in his historical research.
Historical Works
Kwiatkowski's most notable historical work is "Dzieje narodu polskiego za panowania Władysława IV, króla Polskiego" (Warsaw, 1823). This publication chronicled the history of the Polish nation during the reign of Władysław IV.
Other Publications
Beyond his primary historical work, Kwiatkowski published several other significant texts. In 1791, he released "Próba pióra bezstronnego obywatela nad stanem teraźniejszym i przyszłym Polski" (Warsaw), which analyzed the current and future state of Poland. Furthermore, he translated Suetonius' "Lives of the Twelve Caesars" into Polish, publishing it in Wrocław in 1826 as "Dzieje XII cesarzyw rzymskich."
