Early Life and CareerKarl Kimmich was born in Ulm, Germany, on September 14, 1880. His father was an art teacher and writer. Karl was the eldest son in the family, with a 13-year age gap between him and his brother Max. After completing school, Karl worked as a bank clerk while pursuing his education. His intelligence and diligence quickly propelled him up the career ladder, and he eventually landed a position at the Schaffhausenscher Bankverein. Later, he joined a Berlin bank.

In 1929, Karl joined Deutsche Bank. His first assignment was to restructure an unprofitable chocolate factory and mine. His knowledge of the region's economy enabled him to successfully execute this task, drawing the attention of the bank's leadership. In 1933, he was appointed to the board of directors of Deutsche Bank in Berlin, a position he held until 1942.
Involvement in Nazi Regime
During World War II, Karl, a staunch supporter of the Nazi regime, was appointed chairman of the board of directors. He also played a role in the expropriation of Jewish-owned businesses, overcoming bureaucratic hurdles to expedite the process.
Post-War Investigation
After the war, American military authorities planned to prosecute members of the Deutsche Bank board of directors, including Karl. However, they ultimately decided against it, deeming it unlikely to succeed.
Mysterious Death
Karl Kimmich died on September 10, 1945. The cause of his death remains a mystery, with theories ranging from suicide to illness or even foul play.
