Biography of Kasym Kaysenov
Kasym Kaysenov was a national hero of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a laureate of the International A. Fadeev Prize, a Kazakhstani writer, and a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. He was born on April 23, 1918, in the Ulan District of the East Kazakhstan Region.
Early Life and Education
After completing school in 1934, Kaysenov enrolled in a political and educational technical school in Ust-Kamenogorsk. In 1938, after finishing his studies, he worked as an instructor in the Pavlodar Regional Department of People's Education. However, he was later called to serve in the army and was sent to a military intelligence school. Upon completing the school in November 1941, he was stationed at the headquarters of the Northwestern Front. He received a special assignment to organize partisan movements in the occupied territory of Ukraine.
Partisan Movement
In Ukraine, Kaysenov commanded a unit named after Chapaev, designated as Unit Three. From there, he participated in partisan movements in Moldova, Czechoslovakia, and Romania until the end of 1944. As the commander of the unit, he took part in over a hundred military campaigns and sabotage missions.
Post-War Life
After the war, Kaysenov returned to Kazakhstan and worked as a responsible employee at the Office of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR. He actively participated in the post-war reconstruction of the national economy as the Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee in the Zhualinsk and Sverdlovsk Districts of the Zhambyl Region. From 1951 to 1954, he studied at the Party School of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan in the Translation Department.
Literary Career
From 1953 to 1972, Kaysenov worked as the Deputy Director of the "Zhazushy" publishing house, the Director of the Propaganda Bureau of Literary Art at the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, and the Deputy Director of the "Kaynar" publishing house. He authored numerous works that truthfully depicted the most difficult periods of the Great Patriotic War and the selfless heroism of ordinary soldiers. His first book, "Young Partisan," was published in 1954. This was followed by books such as "Ilko Vityak," "Partisans of Pereyaslavl," "In the Jaws of Death," "Boy Behind Enemy Lines," "On the Dnieper," "Behind Enemy Lines," "Partisan Trails," and numerous short stories and story collections. Many of his works have been translated into Russian, Ukrainian, and other languages. In recent years, he published books titled "I Believe in the Future of My Country" and "Memoirs and Notes."
