Biography of Katherine Parkinson
Early Life and EducationKatherine Parkinson is an English actress best known for her role as Jen Barber in the comedy series "The IT Crowd." She was born in England and gained popularity in Russia for her portrayal of Jen Barber, an ordinary office worker forced to work in the IT department. Prior to her television success, Parkinson was highly regarded for her theater roles, including performances in plays by Chekhov. She attended a girls' school in Kingston upon Thames, London, and later enrolled in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art after completing a course at one of the Oxford colleges.
Theater Career
During her time at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Parkinson secured a professional role in a production. One of her most notable roles during this period was the lead role in "The Age of Consent." She also appeared in other significant productions, such as "Doc Martin" alongside Martin Clunes and Julie Walters. In 2007, Parkinson starred in a new adaptation of Chekhov's "The Seagull" at the Royal Court Theatre in London, alongside Kristin Scott Thomas and Mackenzie Crook. She continued to excel in the theater, including a memorable performance in the acclaimed production of "Cock" in 2009.
Television and Radio
In 2008, Parkinson appeared in an audio adaptation of the "Doctor Who" universe, starring alongside Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor.
