Born in Abilene, Texas, Kathy Westmoreland's musical journey began at an early age. Her father, a renowned singer, and mother, a talented ballerina, instilled in her a deep love and appreciation for the arts. She relocated to California in 1962, along with her siblings: fellow singer-songwriters Melody and Christi Westmoreland, and drummer-singer Brent Westmoreland.

During her high school years at Garden Grove High School, Kathy teamed up with a classmate, Steve Martin, to form a comedy music act. They performed at Knott's Berry Farm's Bird Cage Theatre and various local coffee houses. Kathy's soprano voice proved to be a natural fit for musical comedies.

Early Career Successes

At the age of eighteen, Kathy joined the touring company of the Metropolitan Opera National Company. Upon her return to California, she joined the highly acclaimed folk group, The Culvers, who enjoyed immense popularity at the time with their hit single, "Sandpipers."
