Early Life and Career
Kennedy Bakircioglu, a Swedish footballer of Assyrian descent, was born on July 2, 1980, in Diyarbakır, Turkey. His family moved to Sweden in 1972, settling in Södertälje. His father, Benjamin Bakircioglu, played football for Assyriska FF, a club founded by the Assyrian diaspora.
Club Career
Assyriska and Hammarby (1999-2003)Bakircioglu began his professional career with Assyriska FF. In 1999, he joined Hammarby IF and played a pivotal role in their first Swedish championship title in 2001.
Iraklis and Twente (2003-2005)
After five years with Hammarby, Bakircioglu moved to Greece with Iraklis Thessaloniki in 2003. In 2005, he joined FC Twente in the Netherlands.
Ajax Amsterdam (2007-2010)
In 2007, Bakircioglu signed a four-year contract with AFC Ajax. Despite scoring 15 goals during the 2006/07 season for Twente, he struggled to make an impact at Ajax, playing only 26 matches in two years.
Racing Santander (2010-2012)
After leaving Ajax, Bakircioglu joined Racing Santander in Spain, where he spent two seasons.
Return to Hammarby (2012)
In August 2012, Bakircioglu returned to Hammarby IF on trial. The club eventually signed him on a permanent basis, marking his second spell with the Swedish giants.
International Career
Bakircioglu made his debut for the Swedish national team in 2001, earning 11 caps. He represented Sweden at various youth levels before graduating to the senior team.
