Early Career and CollaborationsKeri Hilson is an American contemporary R&B singer-songwriter signed to Zone 4/Mosley Music Group/Interscope Records. She has been a member of the songwriting and production collective The Clutch. Since 2001, Hilson has written music for various artists, including Chris Brown, Britney Spears, Lil Wayne, Fat Joe, Mary J. Blige, Usher, and Ciara. She often provides backing vocals for her compositions.
Breakthrough with Timbaland
In 2006, Hilson appeared in Nelly Furtado's music video for "Promiscuous." Subsequently, she signed with Timbaland's record label. Together, they worked on her debut album, featuring collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, and Justin Timberlake. Polow da Don announced that Hilson's debut single would be "Henny and Apple Juice" with Snoop Dogg and Ludacris.
Solo Success
In 2006, Hilson signed with Mosley Music Group and began working on her solo album, "In a Perfect World...," which was released in late 2008. She continued to contribute to Timbaland's solo project, "Shock Value," released in 2007. Hilson's debut single, "Energy," was released in May 2008, and the music video premiered in July.
